es Salaam, Tuesday 24th March 2015; United Bank for Africa
Tanzania (UBA) today has launched its U-Mobile service in Tanzania, at a launch
event held at Head Office in Dar es Salaam. The bank’s clients can expect to
start using the U Mobile services right away by enrolling and acquiring the
service on their mobile phones or electronic devices.
UBA
is the first bank in Tanzania to have its mobile services accessible in 2
different platforms; via a Mobile App downloaded to the phone, catering to
those with smart phones and also accessible through the USSD code format, which
will be available to all subscribers through the code, *150*70#.
With
the introduction of its U-Mobile service, UBA will offer its clients easy
access and management of their funds. Through this the bank will offer more
than 14 services among which include; Easy Fund Transfers, Account management,
Airtime top up, payment of utility bills such as LUKU, DSTV etc, purchase of
tickets and .
Speaking
to members of the press at the launch event, UBA Tanzania Managing Director, Demola Ogunfeyimi said, “We are
pleased to bring U-Mobile service to Tanzania as a mobile banking product in
form of an application, as we aim to provide our clients with innovative and
easy access solutions to management of their funds and handling the day to day
transactions on real-time basis”.
Reflecting
the bank’s determination, UBA Tanzania
Chairman, Gen. Robert Mboma during the unveiling of the product added that,
“the bank is committed to provide and maintain unique high class product and
service level offerings for all classes and types of customers regardless of
the income or business”

Head of Products, Julius Konyani
made his remarks saying the bank has put in place measures to ensure our
customers account details and information is kept safe and secure. He added, “We
have a dedicated support team who are tasked in management of U-Mobile banking
operations and provide support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week”.
This
service is available to all our customers with Current or Savings Accounts or
Prepaid card with UBA and must first complete an enrollment form at the
branches. The process is fast and easy and all information is passed on to the
client for them to quickly start using the service.”
